Harmony, A Book for Teens
Wendy added “published author” to her curriculum vitae in October 2018 with the publication of Harmony, the first installment of a three-part anthology for teen readers.
“The story takes the reader to a magical place where they can become part of the actual book,” she says. “Their contribution takes them through the world of Ferrari, Cartier and E-bikes.  There is an adventure involving avatars, the worldwide subway system and saving the world from global warming.”

Essentially, the book is about the metamorphosis of a teen girl as she learns and grows from her experiences.  Harmony is an interactive experience to which teens contribute their ideas and magical fantasies.

Published by Balboa Press, a division of Hay House Publishing, Harmony is available in both soft cover and ebook form.  It can be purchased online at Amazon or Balboa Press, or through Chapters, Indigo, Barnes & Noble and other fine book stores. Quantity orders for schools or community organizations can be arranged through the author.

Jazzled
Wendy's latest project and current passion was inspired by her teenaged daughter Samantha.  Jazzled is a social network for teens aged 13 to 18, designed to provide a safe venue for online interaction as well as opportunities to create and give back to the community.

The term “jazzled” is defined in the urban dictionary as “something wonderful is about to happen”.  As well as filtered access to protect teens from predatory instincts, the site offers opportunities to build apps and engage in software projects with a view to opening doors to greater scholastic achievement.

“Our mission,” Wendy says, “is to support youth in achieving their greatest possible potential through the discovery of their own strength, perseverance and intelligent thoughtfulness allowing them to discover new, achievable goals toward their bright future.”

The Jazzled site is currently under development, supported so far by financial contributions from Wendy and other investors who have backed the project.  Several successful fundraisers have already taken place.  Fundraising efforts will continue to assist with the completion and launch of the site, anticipated in 2019.  Jazzled is giving away 100,000 premium memberships to the first buyers of Harmony. Book sales support educational initiatives with 20% of proceeds going to the Patricia Rosalind Marais Scholarship Fund for Teens.

Premium memberships are also being offered to those who register for the Jazzled newsletter without book purchase.  The newsletter will provide updates on the project as well as upcoming fundraiser and contest details.  Several contests have already taken place featuring prizes of interest to teens, from concert tickets to kindle readers.

Wendy Marais, Author of Harmony
One might say that Wendy Marais excels at thinking outside of the box.  “Today I would have to say that I am a serial entrepreneur and loving every minute of it”, she says, “It’s always a challenge worth staying up late and getting up early for!”

Of course, one job is not enough for a serial entrepreneur. She founded MLM Hearts in 2011, offering an online dating service that caters to the niche market of entrepreneurs engaged in multi level marketing.  “Our goal and mission was to join together the people we meet at various MLM groups who expressed an interest in getting to know someone who shared their business goals,” she explains.  “A fun place where they can meet and share their interests, and talk the language that MLM people talk.”
MLM Hearts is currently being redeveloped to Single Hearts, a site with similar mindset, providing opportunities for professionals in varied fields seeking to interact with those of like interests.
